Abstract

Within the first 10 years, we focused on the search for novel biophysical ap- proaches in order to gain a clear insight into the functioning of individual nerve cells. We all, young associates from the Lab. of General Physiology of the Nervous System (GPNS) headed by P.G. Kostyuk , were filled with awe when we read scientific papers by A. Hodgkin, B. Katz, and J. Eccles. I was the second postgraduate student of young DSc. P.G. Kostyuk , and naturally I worked under his guidance. We still value in our hearts the recollection of this beautiful time, so nicely expressed by the words of this song:

Keywords: Platon Kostyuk, electrophysiology, neuroscience, microelectrodes, ion channels, neuronal activity, retrograde labeling, hypothalamus, spinal cord, biophysics
